NEON LED CACTI

The National Parks

The Story

In 2021, I joined forces with The National Parks band to overhaul their neon cacti stage lighting. The aim was to create a dynamic, adaptable visual experience for their shows.

The initial neon LED cacti were replaced with custom frames that housed individually mappable LEDs. These new LED cacti, designed for durability and transport efficiency, enhanced the band's ability to set the stage's visual mood.

Using TouchDesigner, I developed a user-friendly software that allowed the band to manipulate the lighting based on their stage setup and set lists. The Advatek PixLite 16 LED controller proved to be crucial in delivering the expected lighting features.

The new cacti lights made their first appearance at the Vivint Arena. Since then, they've been used in a variety of settings, from intimate acoustic performances to expansive tours. The distinctive lighting has become an integral part of their shows, making each concert unique.
